Welcome to Denham Village Infant School

Reception at Work - Spring Term

We’ve been really busy this term down in Reception and have been on many adventures with Miss Sadique and Mrs Witney.

The start of the Spring Term brought many changes for us. We now have a new teacher who helps with our learning, her name is Miss Sadique. At the same time, Reception became fulltime members of Denham Village Infant School which made us feel very grown up! At the beginning of this term our teachers thought that we were ready to take reading books home and we haven’t looked back since! We really enjoy practising our reading at home.

Reception went under the sea! As you can see from our display, we designed fish to go up on display and yes…it took a lot of paper scrunching to make the seaweed look like that. It was hard work but we were pleased with the end result.

Mr. Froggy had got himself into a bit of pickle so we thought we would help him solve his problem. He was going to the beach for the first time and had no idea what he needed to take with him. Mr. Froggy was so grateful for our help that he treated us to Fish and Chips! Thank you Mr. Froggy, they were really yummy!

We learnt about Noah’s Ark and Mrs Witney painted a huge Ark to go in our role play area and we added are own artistic touch by making animal masks. We soon set to work, building our Ark and of course, we made sure that the animals went in two by two with some very careful counting.

No sooner had we put away our hammers, we were off to space, our launch was successful and we managed to land our shuttle on the moon! We made sure we had our spacesuits and space helmets on before setting off on any space mission. We learnt about all the different Planets that we have in our solar system, it was all very exciting.

This inspired us to create our own planet, which we named Planet Zum Zee. Our planet was quite like no other…with multicoloured grass, a soft, spongy surface and not forgetting the floating Alien of course. The Aliens were very friendly and invited us to      “Tea on Planet Zum Zee”. Now that was an offer we could not refuse!

So you see, when we said we’ve been busy, we weren’t joking! We are all very proud of the hard work that we have put in this term and all our teachers are very proud of us too.
